The safer workflow is to notify the affected mailbox user directly while keeping the customer account email copied into the process for visibility.
SIP Shield can connect to your mailbox from the server side, so trust control can still work when you mainly use iPhone, iPad, Android, or webmail instead of a desktop app.
The hosted option is designed for customers who want mobile-friendly trust control without depending on a Mac or Windows app on every device.
You add the mailbox address, IMAP host, IMAP username, and IMAP password inside your SIP Shield profile.
SIP Shield connects to the mailbox over IMAP, runs the first scan immediately after setup, and then checks again every 5 minutes for spoofing, phishing, fraud, junk, and suspicious sender patterns.
If a message looks unsafe or uncertain, it should be held instead of being trusted automatically.
The affected mailbox user gets the alert, while the customer account email can stay copied into the review workflow.
The safer workflow is to notify the affected mailbox user directly while keeping the customer account email copied into the process for visibility.
The notice email includes a secure one-time action link. From there, the intended user can choose to delete the held message or move it into the inbox if it is legitimate.
The mailbox password cannot be stored as a one-way hash because SIP Shield must log in to IMAP on your behalf. It must be stored with reversible server-side encryption instead.
Works well when you mainly read mail from a phone, tablet, or webmail and do not want to depend on a local computer app.
The hosted option and the desktop apps can exist side by side. Customers can choose whichever path fits their device habits best.
The encrypted hosted mailbox profile storage and the hosted background scan schedule are now live. The first scan runs on save, then repeats every 5 minutes.
Hosted customers can open a monthly report page, download a CSV, and keep the report delivery tied only to the Customer ID email on file.
